How fast can I get a home lock change?
- My home was burglarized. What should I do?
-
In many cases, thieves are able to gain entry because the homes were left unlocked, or windows were left open. If your locks were picked or forced open, it’s time to replace them with better, high security door locks.
There are numerous models on the market today that are pick-proof and more difficult for thieves to force or pry open.
Call San Jose Locksmith at 408-833-7072 to request a free security consultation with one of our professional locksmiths. And remember: the easiest way to prevent home intrusion is to always lock your windows and doors!
- I have a jammed ignition cylinder, will I have to replace the ignition?
-
If you have a jammed ignition cylinder, the first thing to try is to jiggle the steering wheel. Sometimes, the steering column will lock and this also locks the ignition (you don’t want to start a vehicle if you can’t steer it!).
If that doesn’t work, call us and we’ll send one of our San Jose area automotive locksmiths to help. In some cases, the key might be old and worn, and need to be replaced. In other cases, the culprit might be the ignition itself.
If you drive a Ford Focus and have a jammed ignition cylinder, we can just about guarantee you have to replace it. Whether we have to make a new key or replace the ignition, our automotive locksmith will show up with the tools to get the job done
- My key is broken! In the lock!
-
If your vehicle key is broken in the lock, do NOT try to get it out. You can do more damage to your ignition. Call San Jose Locksmith for assistance. If the key to your home or business is broken in the lock, we still recommend that you don’t try to stick things inside to take it out.
You might damage the wells or break off more material into the lock. Let a professional locksmith assist you. In the long run, it’s the most cost-effective way of solving the problem.
- What is lock rekeying?
-
Lock rekeying is done when the keys are stolen or lost—in other words, when someone may be in possession of keys that still work in your home or business lock.
Rather than incur the expense of having locks changed, you can rekey the existing locks. A residential or commercial locksmith from San Jose Locksmith will come to your house, take the lock out, and change the pins and tumblers inside the lock.
When we’re finished, the old keys will no longer work, and we’ll make new sets of keys for you.
